'Bank of Novara' roof restoration in Novara - Italy

Restoration of historical Palace with St. Michel 40X40 roof tiles

Roof tile: 40X40 St. Michel

Palazzo Tornielli Bellini (BPN Headquarters) in Novara

The building formerly belonged to the powerful Tornielli counts family, then passed to the Bagliotti family, who restored it in 1680. Subsequently, in 1751, it became the property of the Bellini family, who were responsible for the magnificent decorative works in the rooms, adorned with frescoes, stuccoes, and mirrors in exquisite rococo style. In 1900, it was purchased by the Banca Popolare, founded in Novara, Italy, in 1871.

After the completion of the façade by the architect Luigi Broggi from Milan, starting from 1905, it became the bank's headquarters, and the ancient and sumptuous rooms, decorated by the 18th-century painter Antonio Pianca, were intended for representative functions. On May 31, 1800, Napoleon Bonaparte stayed here during the second campaign on Italian soil, before the Battle of Marengo.

During the resumption of the First War of Independence, King Carlo Alberto stayed here, and on the evening of March 23, 1849, after the defeat, he abdicated in favor of his son Vittorio Emanuele: an act of crucial importance for the Italian Risorgimento. Ten years later, on June 1, 1859, Napoleon III, Emperor of the French, was hosted here, staying until dawn on June 4, studying plans for the Battle of Magenta together with Vittorio Emanuele II.

The historic rooms where these illustrious figures stayed are located in the north wing (Abdication Room, Council Room, and Napoleon's Room). There is also a Tapestry Gallery, a wonderful collection of 17th-century Sicilian corals, a series of landscape paintings from the 18th century, the so-called Pianca Gallery, and the Main Hall, used for dances and receptions, also known as the "Hall of Mirrors" or "Music Hall."

Palazzo Tornielli Bellini is the headquarters of the Banca Popolare di Novara and is located at Via Negroni, 12 in Novara.

Restoration of the roof of the Banca di Novara Palace in Novara, carried out using Ardogres porcelain stoneware shingles St. Michel 40X40.

For this intervention, St. Michel 40X40 Porcelain Stoneware tiles were chosen, faithfully reproducing the coverings made with typical Valdostan and Piedmontese slates, characteristic of the area.

The peculiarity is offered by the presence of another Ardogres covering on the adjacent Banca d'Italia building, made with Grigio Pietra 40X40, and it's possible to admire both buildings located in the historical centre.
