Red Cedar Aravis 25X40 shingle roofing

This is one of the most important roofs built in France with Red Cedar Aravis 25X40. The renovation involved replacing the previous natural Canadian Cedar shingles with new Ardogres Red Cedar Aravis 25X40 porcelain stoneware shingles. These owe their name to the mountain group of the same name that the village of Le Grand-Bornand in the French department of Haute-Savoie (74) overlooks.

The roof is noteworthy in that it has seen the use of a particular type of  staggered laying technique that contributes to accentuating the visual effect of the natural product, while guaranteeing the peculiarities of porcelain stoneware in terms of resistance to atmospheric events, primarily snow and frost in high mountain contexts as in this case.

The roof was completed with other typical elements of this area, in particular the use of wooden logs as snow stops.
